Waxahachie approves 3,170-acre community developement project

 WAXAHACHIE – The Waxahachie City Council approved a proposal by Minto Communities USA to develop a new master-planned community in Waxahachie.“The 3,170-acre community will be the largest residential and mixed-use development in the area,” according to a news release from Minto.

Possible ICE facility coming to Hutchins

 HUTCHINS – The mayor of Hutchins, Mario Vasquez said he is not a fan of the idea of an ICE facility coming to his city.The Washington Post broke the news in December about the possibility of a 1-million-square-foot warehouse being converted to a detention center.

Wilhelm sworn in as judge for new Ellis County 504th District Court

 ELLIS COUNTY – Judge Greg Wilhelm was officially sworn in last week and is now serving as judge of the county’s new 504th District Court.Wilhem was sworn in at the Midlothian Conference Center alongside his wife, Monica Wilhelm.“Last night was a milestone I will never forget,” Wilhelm said.

Palmer shooting leads to multiple arrests

 PALMER – Jesus Hernandez, 23, of Palmer, was arrested following a shooting investigation by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.Hernandez was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as felon in possession of a firearm.
