BARDWELL

Bardwell’s next City Council meeting will be held on Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Anyone wishing to speak at the meeting must call the office at least five business days before the meeting and ask the City Secretary to add it to the agenda.


ENNIS

Ennis Police Department recently welcomed its newest member, Emily Treadaway Camarillo. She formerly served as a Communications Officer for the city before graduating The Regional Police Academy, and follows in the footsteps of her father, who also served the community as a police officer.


FERRIS

The next Story Time at the Ferris Public Library will be Jan. 28 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

ITALY

The Gold Medal Saturday Academy at Stafford Elementary has partnered with Build Consulting Group and will begin its Winter Olympic Wonderland for grades third to sixth on Saturday’s from  8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, Feb. 14 and 28, March 21 and April 4 and 11.


MAYPEARL

Maypearl voted unanimously to change its City Council elections from May to November every year. With that change the next election will not be held until November 2027. Anyone who had a term up for re-election in May of 2026 has now had their term extended to next year.


MIDLOTHIAN

A meeting will be held in Midlothian on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. by the residents of Bridgewater who are opposing large-scale commercial development at 287 and Walnut Grove, which is adjacent to Bridgewater. This Planning and Zoning meeting will be held at 215 N. 8th Street, Midlothian.


MILFORD

Oak Leaf City Council meetings are second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.


OVILLA

Ovilla has recently received calls from residents who have received past-due notices after submitting payments through their bank’s online bill-pay system. The City noted they are aware that recent postal service delays could be affecting the delivery and processing of payments mailed to the City by financial institutions. The City is working with customers when payments are impacted by mail delivery issues. If you have received a past-due notice and made your payment on time, contact Utility Billing at (972) 617-7262.


PALMER

A Palmer update on recent projects and upcoming plans around town include the successful completion of the Dallas and Denton Street water sewer lines, the completion of asphalting on Kinsala and Cooper Streets, and the completion of the city’s gazebo renovations.

WAXAHACHIE

The Waxahachie Fire and Rescue recently joined other Ellis County Police Departments and Fire and Rescue Departments as they lined I-35 in support of Copperas Cove Police Officer Elijah Garretson, who was killed in the line of duty in early January attempting to arrest a suspect. The first responders joined together to pay respect and honor the service of Garretson as he was being escorted back to Copperas Cove from Dallas on I-35 by lining the highway in commemoration.
