WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County Commissioners unanimously passed an item to once again engage Pattillo, Brown and Hill LLP to perform the county’s external annual audit for fiscal year 2025.

Ellis County Auditor Stacy Parr spoke reminding commissioners they have worked with this company for the past years and, “We have been very happy with their services” she said.

The contract will not exceed $75,000.

Parr explained last year they paid $60,000 for the audit.

“With the increased amount of grant funds that we are receiving, because if we use more than $750,000 in federal funds we have to have a single audit.

“With the AARPA grant continuing through the end of this year and then if SB22 money continues to be received as we think it will, with the Sheriff’s office receiving $500,000 and the DA’s office at $250,000 that puts us at $750,000.”

Ellis County Judge John Wray inquired when the court typically receives the report.

Parr confirmed the report must be in by March 31 of every year unless an extension is filed, which has never been necessary with this firm.
