Red Oak robbery suspects arrested

RED OAK – An unnamed Red Oak resident was surprised early Saturday around 5 a.m., when he got into his vehicle in front of his home in the 200 block of Pinewood Avenue in the Coyote Ridge subdivision.

TSTC student builds leadership skills as campus ambassador

RED OAK – Orlando Chavez, 19, of Red Oak did not look far to make his college decision. Chavez is a Precision Machining Technology major at Texas State Technical College, which is next door to Red Oak High School, where he graduated in 2018.

City manager claims errors in reporting

FERRIS – During a meeting with Ferris Mayor Jim Swafford, City Manager Bill Jordan and The Ellis County Press Publisher Charles D. Hatfield, Jr., last Friday, several issues were discussed.

Wilson not seeking re-election as DA

WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County & District Attorney Patrick Wilson announced this week he would not be seeking re-election. Wilson has served Ellis County for more than 21 years as chief prosecutor. He recently reminisced over his long-career.

Fatality on I-45 takes the life of Palmer woman

FERRIS – A fatality wreck on northbound Interstate 45 at exit 266 on the south side of Ferris took the life of 24-year-old Palmer resident Heather Hanson last week. Hanson was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Dallas.

Newsom promoted to CSB president

PALMER – Commercial State Bank Palmer, with branches in Ferris and Wilmer, announced the promotion of Executive Vice President Chad R. Newsom to President effective Jan. 1, 2019.
