CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women’s gymnastics head coach Ashley Lawson announced Tuesday the addition of signee Lindsey Moffitt of Ferris to the 2020 team.

Moffitt will join early signing period signees Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso, Jordan Jones and Mallory Desch, along with Taylor Fishkin who signed last Monday this upcoming fall ahead of the 2020 season.

“We are excited for Lindsey to become a Red-hawk!” Lawson said of Moffitt. “She brings some incredible gymnastics and will make some instant impacts in our lineups.

“When Lindsey was on campus, we felt that she connected well with the rest of the team, and just had a joy about her that let us know she was going to fit right in at her ‘new home.’”

Moffitt will graduate from Laurel Springs School Online in Ojai, Calif., in May 2019.

She previously attended Lakeland Christian Academy in Lewisville, from 2015-2018.

The daughter of Malea and Michael Moffitt, Lindsey finished third in the all-around competition at the 2018 Texas State Championship.

She was also fifth on bars, beam and floor and a 2018 JO National Alternate. At the 2018 Region 3 Championship, she was second on bars and ninth in the all-around.

In 2017, Moffitt earned first on bars, third in the all-around and fourth on floor at the Texas State Championship. She finished 13th on beam at the 2017 JO Nationals. At the Region 3 Championship, Moffitt placed third on bars and beam, fourth in the all-around and seventh on floor.

As a freshman in high school, Moffitt finished eighth in the all-around competition at the 2016 Texas State Championship after placing sixth on beam and floor and 10th in the all-around at the 2016 Region 3 Championship.

Moffitt trains at Texas Dreams Gymnastics and is coached by Ned Lange (vault), Marcus Harlin (bars) and Alicia Goodwin Browning (beam and floor). In the classroom, Moffitt is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars.

She intends to major in business or finance at Southeast.

The 2019 Redhawks take a short break from competition this week before hosting Northern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Houck Field House.
