FERRIS – A fatality wreck on northbound Interstate 45 at exit 266 on the south side of Ferris took the life of 24-year-old Palmer resident Heather Hanson last week.
Hanson was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
The Ferris Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident on I-45 at around 7:45 a.m. Jan. 29.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers reported a black Dodge Charger driven by Hanson had front end damage, and a Ford F250 truck driven by 36-year-old Houston resident Tyrone Carr was in the median with damage to the rear of the truck.
A press release by the Ferris Police Department stated, “The transported driver succumbed to the serious injuries and passed away upon arrival at Methodist Hospital.”
There were no passengers in either vehicle, and police said there did not appear to be trauma externally on the deceased woman’s body. The airbags did deploy, but the cause of death is unknown.
There were no arrests made in the accident, and police said they are confident with the information available they will be able to make a conclusion as to the cause of the accident.
The Ferris Police Department is investigating the accident, and additional information will be released as the investigation permits.
