Midlothian ISD state accountability rating increases after appeal

 MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian ISD recently announced its overall state rating increased to a score of 87.The most recent ratings included a notable change at MISD high schools, which therefore increased the district’s overall score to the final 87.

Travis Bruton elected as Mayor Pro Tem of Glenn Heights

 GLENN HEIGHTS – Glenn Heights’ Place 3 city councilmember Travis Bruton was unanimously elected to the Mayor Pro Tem position earlier this month.This will be Bruton’s first time as Mayor Pro Tem.
The city teamed up with Harvest Family Life Ministries and Walmart of Red Oak for its Holiday with Heroes event. Families were paired with first responders and a council member, giving everyone a chance to hang out and check off items from their Christmas lists.

Wilhelm appointed as Ellis County 504th Judicial District Court Judge

 ELLIS COUNTY – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Midlothian’s Greg Wilhelm as the judge for the new 504th Judicial District Court in Ellis County.The effective date of his term began Dec. 1, and is set to expire Dec. 31, 2026, or “until a successor is elected and qualified.

 FERRIS – Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams has earned the Doctor of Public Administration degree from Liberty University’s Helms School of Government, completing an applied research project that directly examined how to strengthen the way the municipal government serves residents.

January election set for Ennis Mayoral, Pro-Tem candidates

 ENNIS – The candidates filing for the upcoming Ennis Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem open seats have all officially filed for the Jan. 31, 2026 special election.The Mayoral election will fill the current vacancy for a term expiring May 2027.

Student makes Ennis FFA history

 ENNIS – One Ennis ISD student recently made history when she took part in the Texas FFA State Contest.Macy Dudley became the first Creed Speaker in Ennis FFA history to advance to the Texas FFA State Contest.

The city also received an appreciation award for hosting TAAF’s 100th annual conference earlier this year, showcasing its commitment to amateur athletics across Texas.
