MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian ISD recently announced its overall state rating increased to a score of 87.
The most recent ratings included a notable change at MISD high schools, which therefore increased the district’s overall score to the final 87.
According to the final ratings as posted at the Midlothian ISD website 85% of Midlothian ISD campuses earned an A or B rating, with nine of the district’s 13 rated schools improving their scores over the past two years.
Overall, the district earned a rating of 87 (B), with three campuses rated an A, eight rated B, and two rated C. None of Midlothian ISD’s schools earned a D or F rating.

The change to the rating was the result of an appeal that MISD filed in the fall with TEA regarding its College, Career, and Military Readiness data.
This data evaluates how well students are prepared for success beyond high school.
Midlothian Superintendent Dr. David Belding said he was proud of the hard work the district’s high schools put in to receive the higher ratings.
“The final ratings are a true reflection of the strength of our instructional programs at all levels, pre-k through 12, and demonstrate how prepared our students are at every step of their educational journey.”
Chief Academic.Officer Shelle Blaylock also pointed out both Midlothian High School and Heritage High Schools earned an A in Student Achievement, which she said spoke to the “true performance of our high school students and speak to the quality of the student experience.”
