GLENN HEIGHTS – Glenn Heights brought the holiday spirit home this season with its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, a Holiday with Heroes event, and its annual Season of Giving Christmas Meal Basket Giveaway.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony drew residents of all ages, with Santa on hand to listen to last-minute Christmas wishes and take photos with the children.

There were also train rides, holiday crafts, face painting and balloon art, carnival games, free toys, the tree lighting, and a magical drone show finale as the evening filled the City Center with smiles and holiday joy.

The tree lighting was hosted in partnership with Community Waste Disposal, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and Methodist Charlton Medical Center.

The city also teamed up with Harvest Family Life Ministries and Walmart of Red Oak for its Holiday with Heroes event.

Families were paired with first responders and a council member, giving everyone a chance to hang out and check off items from their Christmas lists.

“Events like this mean a lot to us because they help us strengthen our connection with the community,” said one city leader.

The Christmas Meal Basket Giveaway was also a huge success, and registration was at its limit days before the original deadline.

“The holiday season truly brings out the heart of Glenn Heights,” said Mayor Sonja A. Brown.

“Our volunteers are the backbone of this community, and their dedication is what makes our city shine. I want to thank everyone who played a role in this year’s holiday celebrations, from our volunteers and residents to our city staff and sponsors.

“Your time, energy, and generosity made these moments possible. On behalf of the City of Glenn Heights, I wish everyone a joyful and safe holiday season.”

As Glenn Heights continues to grow and move forward, residents are encouraged to stay connected and engaged.
