FERRIS – The city of Ferris rolled out a new warrant program during the pandemic.It allows police warrant officers and bailiffs to service and clear outstanding warrants while also providing security in the courtroom during court proceedings.

FERRIS – Area residents were recently displaced after a fire destroyed their home last week, fire officials said.Numerous agencies responded to a house fire in the 2000 block of Ferris Road.

Ellis County Commissioners choose redistricting map with highest deviations

ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County commissioners voted in a 3-2 vote last week to go with Map A for redistricting the lines in Ellis County, which will affect upcoming elections for at least the next 10 years.Map A deviates 9.76% from the current benchmark lines the commissioners are currently serving.

Suspects arrested on drugs, firearms, theft charges

ELLIS COUNTY – Four suspects were arrested last week for a variety of charges after a routine traffic stop by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division arrested three males and one female on November 1 at around 1 a.m.

No charges filed in Waxahachie ISD vandalism

WAXAHACHIE – There will be no charges filed in the Waxahachie High School restroom vandalizing incident.After investigation of the September incident, the suspects were identified and all were juveniles.
