ELLIS COUNTY – Four suspects were arrested last week for a variety of charges after a routine traffic stop by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division arrested three males and one female on November 1 at around 1 a.m. on north IH-45, near FM 879 in Ennis.

The deputy stopped the stolen gold Chevrolet when he observed uneven stacked pieces of fresh lumber in a truck bed. The Sheriff’s Office were not informed until the following day the truck was stolen

Sheriff’s Office Media Relations contact Sergeant Joe Fitzgerald said the uneven lumber was a red flag because the lumber was not stacked properly.

The individuals told the deputy they were from Athens, Texas and traveling to a construction site in Dallas.

A press release said “The deputy noted the time around 1:00a.m. and believed this to be an odd time to be enroute to a construction site.”

After further investigation the deputy inventoried the truck and found four occupants; McKinley, 34 from Dallas and the driver of the truck had charges of theft property >=$750<$2,500, tamper/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair, unlawful possession of firearm by felon, unlawful possession metal or body armor by felon, burglary of vehicle with 2+ conv IAT, no liability insurance, no DL, FTA, no license plate light, no license plate with a bond at $44,500.

Daniel Sias, Misty Slover, Manuel Castellon and Tommy McKinley; all had multiple criminal charges; Sias, 48 from Dallas was arrested on charges of unlawful possession metal or body armor by felon, theft property >=$750<$2,500 and burglary of vehicles with a $26,000 bond set; Slover, 36 from Dallas was charged with theft property >=$750<$2,500, unlawful carrying weapon, tamper/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair, possession CS pg 1 >=1g<4g and burglary of vehicles with $27,000 bond and Castellon, 29 noted as homeless from Dallas was charged with theft property >=$750<$2,500 and burglary of vehicles with a $11,000 bond.

The four suspects are currently in the Ellis County Wayne McCollum Detention Center.
