FERRIS – James Branch has been selected as the next Economic Development Director for the City of Ferris as of Dec. 2. Branch will serve a dual role, as Assistant City Manager of Support Services and the Economic Development Director.

Red Oak man gets 80 years

WAXAHACHIE – On Nov. 21, after a week-long trial in the 443rd Judicial District Court, Eric Shane Harris, 36, of Red Oak, was sentenced to a total of 80 years in prison for sexual assault of a child.

More plans coming after school groundbreaking

WILMER – The city of Wilmer will have a community meeting Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. at the city’s community center located at 101 Davidson Plaza. With the elementary groundbreaking last month, next week’s meeting is a chance for the community to discuss their ideas for the new project.

12-screen theater, bowling, arcade complex coming to Red Oak

RED OAK – B&B Theatres and Victron Group announced a new upscale, state-of-the-art theater complex will be opening in Red Oak to serve Ellis County and the surrounding communities. The review process by the Red Oak City Council is underway, and construction is slated to begin in early 2020.
