RED OAK – Red Oak Lieutenant Marc Schroeder said there is no new information regarding last week’s purse snatching at the Whataburger in the 100 block of Harris Road.

Last Sunday, three black male subjects – all appearing to be in their late teens to early 20s – arrived at the Red Oak Whataburger around 9:30 a.m. in a green van. The van was later listed as stolen out of Dallas.

The suspects went inside the business and walked around without incident before departing according to a report.

The subjects got back into the van and began watching customers as they arrived

At approximately 9:40 a.m., the van pulled next to a group of people talking in the Whataburger parking lot.

One of the subjects got out of the van and grabbed a purse from one of the people in the group.

The suspect then jumped back into the van and drove northbound on the Interstate 35E service road towards Dallas.

The stolen green van was later recovered.

The Red Oak Police Department was called to the scene after the purse snatching.

Officers searched the surrounding area but did not locate the subjects.

Red Oak Police authorized a BOLO (Be on the Look Out) transmission to surrounding agencies and continued to attempt to locate the subjects.

The suspects also committed additional offenses in Cedar Hill and DeSoto on the same day.

The Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is attempting to identify the suspects. If anyone has information to their identities or whereabouts, please contact Detective Matthew Bratcher at (469) 218-7703 / MFitzgerald@redoaktx.org or the Red Oak Police Department at (972) 775-3333.
