Wilmer Town Hall allows residents to share with city leaders

WILMER – A Wilmer Town Hall meeting held early last week was a winner with Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta moderating the meeting at Wilmer’s Community Center.All about paving the way for success, the main topics discussed were updates and current projects from each department within the city.
With assistance from Robotic Club members, kids were able to operate a robot through a course marked on the floor and use a mechanical arm and claw to grab and lift a block of wood.

Build-a-Bot held at Red Oak High School

The Red Oak High School Robotics class held their annual Build-a-Bot event at the Red Oak High School.The Robotics Club held two sessions, morning and afternoon, for children in the area, where they were able to build a robot from a kit with the help of the talented Robotic Club Students.

MILFORD – One suspect was arrested, and a second male fled after a police chase Saturday night that began in Milford.Armando Flores, 48 of Dallas in a 2018 black Silverado after the vehicle was stopped by Milford police for reckless driving following a call at around 7:38 p.m.

ELLIS COUNTY – Governor Greg Abbott banned the school mask mandate in Texas recently.This was done after the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals stopped a federal judge’s injunction.So now, what are Ellis County ISD’s doing in regard to the decision to have their student’s wear a mask or not?

ALMA – Alvin Le Roy Short, 37, of Ennis was struck and killed Dec. 2 by an unknown driver.At 5:45 a.m., DPS troopers were called to a fatality crash on the Interstate 45 southbound service road approximately 0.57 miles south of Alma in Ellis County.

Pursuit of suspects ends near Corsicana

MIDLOTHIAN – While the city of Midlothian did not respond by press time, the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed Midlothian Police Department was involved in a pursuit late last week after responding to a robbery in the city.

ENNIS – Working to reduce hunger in Ennis and the surrounding area, Catholic Charities Dallas, North Texas Food Bank, and St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Parish officially opened the new St. John’s Community Pantry Dec. 7.
