MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian High School Fine Arts proudly presents a brilliantly colorful under-the-sea depiction of The Little Mermaid as the annual spring musical.

With more than 150 cast and crew members, a diverse group of MISD students will fill the stage with singing and dancing that will delight the audience.

Several Midlothian High School departments are involved in the performance including band, choir, and the Pantherettes.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” is a beautiful love story for all ages.

With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl”, and “Part of Your World” all performed by a full orchestra.

Ariel (Amber Kimbell), daughter of King Triton (JD Hullett), wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric (Haden Moorhead) in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula (Kyle Tucker) to trade her tail for legs.

But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder (Zach Cardenas), Scuttle (Cooper Kids), and Sebastian (Gabrielle Rollins) to restore order under the sea.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

All authorized performance materials are also supplied by www.mtishows.com

The performances will be presented by MHS theatre department students, as well as additional MISD students from varying departments and grade levels.

Led by Chastity Kennedy, Director of Theatre, MHS theatre students have spent months preparing for the show, and are excited to share this story with the residents of Ellis County and beyond.

There will be four performances from Jan. 27-29.

Tickets are $10, and all proceeds go directly to the MHS theatre department to cover expenses such as costumes, set design and rentals, lighting, and other props.

“Midlothian High School Fine Arts is incredibly excited to celebrate live theatre with performances of The Little Mermaid,” said Theatre Director Kennedy.

“The past two years have been challenging for everyone, particularly arts organizations.

“We look forward to welcoming our community back with this truly wonderful show.”
