Traffic stop results in felony drug arrest

GLENN HEIGHTS – Glenn Heights Police arrested 20-year-old Jose Paz this past weekend, Jan. 21, 2023, at approximately 1:52 a.m. Paz was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance-penalty group 2 and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

TX Congresswoman files ‘White Supremacy’ Bill

HOUSTON – Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) recently filed a bill in the House of Representatives proposing to “prevent and prosecute white supremacy-inspired hate crime and conspiracy” by expanding the definition of hate crime currently found in U.S. law.

ELLIS COUNTY – According to a post at the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page, “The shelter service provider for Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control has had to close down due to illness in the shelter.

Venus man’s shooting death under investigation

ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a shooting last week, Jan. 18 around 2 p.m., after dispatch received a report of a shooting in the City of Venus.The shooting occurred in the 600 block of Bunkhouse Road, where it was reported two adult males were involved in an argument.

Annual Catch-A-Trout draws more than 50 kids

RED OAK – The City of Red Oak Parks & Recreation held their annual Catch-A-Trout on Jan. 21 at the Red Oak Municipal Lake next to Pearson Park. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stocked the lake a couple days ahead of the event with more than 2,000 Rainbow Trout.
