Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., was founded as a patriotic service organization with the purpose of uniting mothers with sons or daughters in the United States Armed Forces.

On Feb. 1, 1942, 300 mothers of members of the Armed Forces held their first meeting in Michigan.

In 2020, U.S. House of Representatives Resolution 785 designated “Blue Star Mother’s Day” as Feb. 1, the 78th Anniversary of that first meeting.

“We are mothers who now have, or have had, children serving in the military. We are a non-profit (501[c]3) service organization supporting each other and our children while promoting patriotism.

“The Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. is authorized by the U.S. Code: Title 36; Section 943, as of January 26, 1998.

“The Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. is a non-partisan, non-political organization.

“We do not support any political candidate, nor do we endorse any religious organization. The military represents all aspects of America as does our organization.

“Blue Star Mothers promote the values of the United States, demonstrate a patriotic spirit, and advance a national sense of pride and appreciation for the men and women of the Armed Forces.”

The local chapter for southern Dallas County and all of Ellis County is Bluebonnet Chapter TX13.

President of Chapter TX13 and the National 3rd Vice President is Cheree Barrett of Ferris, Texas.
