THIS WEEK IN AMERICAN HISTORY

January 15, 1929 - Martin Luther King (1929-1968) was born in Atlanta, Georgia. As an African American civil rights leader he spoke eloquently and stressed nonviolent methods to achieve equality. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968.

Ellis County Master Gardener Association to award $3,000 in scholarships for 2019

Beginning in 2003, the Ellis County Master Gardener Association (ECMGA) has made scholarships available to graduating Ellis County high school seniors who had an elected academic major in a horticulture/ life sciences or related field.
