ELLIS COUNTY – Last week’s Sherwin Williams fire in Garland will be affecting Ellis County this week.Ellis County Office of Emergency Management was notified that the tributaries and waterways in Ellis County feeding into the Trinity River will be affected due to the runoff caused by the fire.

GLENN HEIGHTS – A suspect has been identified in last week’s Aug. 10 afternoon shooting in the City of Glenn Heights. The man has been identified as 28-year-old Wesley Warren Birdine.

Cotton industry in Ellis County receives THC Historical Marker

WAXAHACHIE – The Texas Historical Commission has recognized the Cotton Industry in Ellis County as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Texas Historical Marker. A dedication ceremony to commemorate the event is planned for Thursday, Sept. 7, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Midlothian man gets 20 years for promotion of child pornography

MIDLOTHIAN – Adrian Leonardo Favila, 25 of Midlothian, pled guilty to 10 counts of promotion of child pornography last week, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

DALLAS – Yaqub Talib was sentenced Monday to 37 years in prison after pleading guilty to a murder charge in the deadly shooting of a youth football coach during a scrimmage game last year in Lancaster.

DALLAS/ELLIS COUNTY – All north and southbound lanes of Business I-45 at Malloy Bridge Rd. will be closed beginning 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, to just north of the landfill until further notice for a bridge replacement project.
