Thompson indicted on capital murder of detention officer

WAXAHACHIE – Arron Semeion Thompson was indicted an Ellis County Grand Jury last week on capital murder in the death of Ellis County Detention Officer Isaiah Bias late last year.The incident occurred on Dec. 16, 2024, at around 3:45 p.m. at the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie.

Red Oak getting new water tower

RED OAK – The City of Red Oak will boast a new water tower in a little over a year from now.The Red Oak Public Works Department held the groundbreaking for the new tower last week, which will be located on Daubitz Drive.This water tower construction will begin very soon, according to city officials.

Midlothian man dead, others injured from severe storms this past weekend

ELLIS COUNTY – The storm that rolled through the west side of Maypearl and continued along a central route toward the east side of Ellis County early Saturday morning left Midlothian resident T.J. Bailey, 42, dead and others injured according to county officials.

FERRIS – Ferris High School student Angel Lucio was participating in the Winter Classic Golf Tournament last week in Lancaster when he heard a cry for help.A freshman golfer from Crandall ISD (who didn’t know how to swim) went to retrieve his ball out of a water hazard.

Midlothian police arrest 2 suspects evading arrest

MIDLOTHIAN – The Midlothian Police were called to the First Financial Bank in the 1400 block of East Main Street last week at around 12:11 p.m. after being notified of an individual in the drive-thru attempting to cash a check with fraudulent material.
