WAXAHACHIE – The idea of mail-in ballots has been under great debate lately due to COVID-19. Some voters were of the mind mail-in ballots were the only safe way to go. Other voters said no – heading to the polls is the only way to vote unless there are unusual circumstances.

FERRIS – The Ferris City Council approved a zoning ordinance change at Monday night’s city council meeting. The request to make the change was brought to the council by Ferris Gold LP.  The request was to rezone 2.

RED OAK – In an effort to give students more educational time in the classroom, assess academic concerns following the spring Coronavirus shutdown, and prepare for possible closures in 2020-2021, the Red Oak ISD School Board has approved minor changes to the 2020-2021 academic calendar.

EC protests, counter protests draw crowds over weekend

WAXAHACHIE – Last week’s protests in Ellis County began on Thursday in front of the Ellis County African American Hall of Fame on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.  Dr. Jamel Rasheed, founder of the museum said before the march began, “We can do this peacefully.” They did.

K9 graduation held in Red Oak Friday, May 12

RED OAK – The Sector K9 Foundation Detection Dog graduation program will be held this Friday at the First Baptist Church in Red Oak at 10:30 a.m. There will be several K9 detection dog teams from across the United States graduating during the ceremony this weekend.
