WILMER – The Wilmer Police Department was visited by District 109 State Representative Carl Sherman last week. Sherman handed off about 50 face masks to Wilmer’s Police Chief Victor Kemp.
“We appreciate State Representative Carl Sherman visiting the Wilmer Police Department last week and donating face masks for our police department,” said Police Kemp.
“During this time when COVID-19 health and safety precautions are on high alert for the department, donations such as this are instrumental in assuring the longevity of the health of the department.”
Sherman obtained a large number of face masks several months ago working alongside Texas State Representative Gene Wu, District 137.
The two met halfway between Houston and Dallas to assure the successful mask handoff. From there the 6000 masks were also distributed to additional state representatives to be handed out in nearby districts
“Every mask counts,” Rep. Sherman said upon receiving the masks and beginning the distribution.
“We are all really concerned about making sure that our citizens have what they need in order to stay safe,” Rep Sherman added.
Chief Kemp said the masks will be utilized with the utmost gratitude to his hardworking department.
“Rep. Sherman has passed out masks to other police departments in the area too, and District 109 is proud to have his support and representation during these uncertain times,” Kemp concluded.
