WILMER – Another Wilmer win last week when the city confirmed Yokohama Tire Corporation will move its new distribution center to Wilmer this summer.   The new 430,000 square-foot distribution center will be the fourth Yokohama distribution center in America to accompany three other U.S.

Wilmer 1st responders receive 6,000 masks

WILMER – The City of Wilmer was the recipient of a mask delivery last week at Wilmer’s City Hall. “Thank you to our State Representative, Carl Sherman for gifting 6,000 masks to our Police, Fire and Senior Services Department,” Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta said after the mask distribution.

CAP students experience thrill of flying

RED OAK – The last weekend in March, 2021 will be one that 11 middle school students will remember as the Red Oak Middle School Civil Air Patrol  cadets received an orientation flight in a Cessna 172.  “It was a thrill and exciting to fly the aircraft,” said Cadet Jaxson Petersen.

Paxton joins Amicus Brief defending 2nd Amendment

AUSTIN – Attorney General Ken Paxton joined a multistate friend-of-the-court brief before the San Francisco-based Court of Appeals for Ninth Circuit defending Americans’ Second Amendment rights after California banned standard-capacity magazines for firearms, which hold 11 to 15 rounds.

Biden administration’s failure to take custody of criminal aliens endangers Texans, Americans

AUSTIN – Attorney General Ken Paxton today sued the Biden Administration in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas decrying its refusal to take custody of criminal illegal aliens, including dangerous felons and drug manufacturers, as required by federal law.

SEARCH ON FOR MURDER SUSPECT

WAXHACHIE – A 29-year-old male found dead late last week in Ennis has been identified as Waxahachie resident Jordon Von Hoffman.  While the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department is not releasing the cause of death at the moment, the manner of death was noted as homicide.

ELLIS COUNTY – The year 2021 will be a time when Americans and locals won’t forget when it comes to elections.  From the Presidential election that spilled over into 2021 drama to the postponed elections from May 2020, it is now time to gear up and vote on May 1, 2021 for open City Council seats.

Rozier named new Ellis County tax assessor/collector

WAXAHACHIE – The Ellis County Commissioner’s Court appointed Richard F. Rozier as the county’s new tax assessor.  Rozier was one of three finalists that included a current employee of the tax assessor department and a local CPA/attorney.

Candidates file for school board election

ELLIS COUNTY – It is time to gear up for another election on May 1, 2021 for not only city council seats and props, but also for open school board trustee seats.  While there are a number of cities in Ellis County as well as ISD boards, there are only four cities with school board elections in May.
