WAXAHACHIE – Tom Thumb announced this past week it’s growing with Dallas-Fort Worth and will start construction in Waxahachie.The store is expected to open in summer 2024 and will have an in-store Starbucks, pharmacy drive-thru, and grocery pick-up area.

MURDERER RECEIVES LIFE SENTENCE

ENNIS – Twenty-four-year-old Ennis resident Dontriel Perry was convicted of capital murder last week in a court of law in Ellis County.Perry was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

AUSTIN – State Representative Brian Harrison (R-10) refiled a bill for the Texas 88th Legislature’s first Special Session, re-introducing the Texas COVID Vaccine Freedom Act.The bill is an attempt to ban all COVID-19 vaccine mandates in Texas.

ENNIS – A 38-year-old local woman died earlier this week when she exited a moving vehicle in the 900 block of South Clay in Ennis.Ennis Police revealed they are still unsure of the cause of the woman exiting the vehicle.

PEDESTRIAN DIES AFTER STRUCK BY MOTOR VEHICLE

RED OAK – Red Oak Police and Fire Rescue were called to a motor vehicle accident early last week in the 400 block of South Interstate Highway 35E Service Road at around 10:45 p.m. The accident involved a juvenile female, who had been struck by a Gray 2007 Hummer H3.
