WILMER – The City of Wilmer swore in three council members Monday night following the May 1 election. Incumbent Jeff Steele was sworn in by Wilmer City Secretary Mayra Ortiz followed by newest member Wally Leto, who will be serving his first term on the city council.

Juveniles stealing SUV quickly apprehended

RED OAK – Red Oak Police were dispatched to Watkins Park in the 200 block of Live Oak Street this past weekend in response to a stolen vehicle in progress. Police arrived around 10:50 a.m.

LANCASTER POLICE INVOLVED IN SHOOTING

Lancaster – On Monday, May 10, at approximately 5:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to a “shooting in progress” call in the 1600 block of N. Houston School Road. Officers were advised that two juveniles were inside the apartment with an armed male firing a weapon.

NICS background check numbers increases 21%

With gun sales reaching an “all-time high,” NICS office conducted 3,514,070 total background checks in April.  It was an about 21-percent increase over April 2020. There were 961,947 handgun-related checks, 549,244 long gun related checks, and 602,540 permit checks last month.
