Waxahachie native reenlists aboard aircraft carrier

ADRIATIC SEA – A Waxahachie native was one of 40 sailors assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) who took the next step in their Navy careers by reenlisting as a group during a mass-reenlistment ceremony in the ship’ hangar bay Feb. 27.

Kaufman woman arrested for theft by Texas A&M Forest Service

KAUFMAN – Texas A&M Forest Service Law Enforcement Investigators and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office arrested Frances Charline Lee Cole, 51, of Kaufman, for theft of more than $2,500 and less than $30,000 in Hopkins County on March 2.

ROISD communications team wins top state awards

RED OAK – Congratulations to the Red Oak ISD Communications team for winning ten Gold Star Awards with three earning Best of Category in the state, and five Silver Star Awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) in their annual Star Awards program.

Quin named Hutchins new city manager

HUTCHINS – James Quin  took over the position as the new city manager of Hutchins on Feb. 21.The position was open after former City Manager Trudy Lewis left for another opportunity in early December of last year.Quin was chosen out of over a dozen applicants who applied for the position.

OVILLA – The Ovilla Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the city of Duncanville over the weekend, along with four other outside departments assisting.The fire at 800 Link Apartments began around 2 p.m. Sunday.According to statement, the situation evolved quickly.

3 police academy graduates join Waxahachie PD

Waxahachie – The Waxahachie Police Department welcomed three new officers to the department last week.Graduating from the Regional Police Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 9, Bryce Ippolito, Austin Pierce and Gabriel Young became the newest members of the department.
