Forgotten Ferals: one woman’s quest in Ellis County

PALMER – Linda Merkich loves animals. She especially loves cats. Forgotten Ferals is her baby so to speak, as are the hundreds of cats she and other local volunteers are feeding and taking care of from afar.

The believer’s mission statement (part 3)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon us, because He has anointed us to preach the gospel to the poor.” – Luke 4:18 The apostle Paul said in Romans 1:16 that he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it was the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.

America’s fiscal house of cards

America is in deep financial trouble, and it is getting increasingly difficult to grow out of it. This past year, our nation’s economy grew at a faster rate than at any time since 2005 at 2.9 percent, but the outlays (spending) grew much faster at more than 7.2 percent.

Opportunities make America great

People around the world dream of coming to America and having a better life. Since our founding as a nation, millions have come here and found a better life than they left behind. We can be proud of this in our country.
