FERRIS – As the world of news reporting continues to change The Ellis County Press is keeping up with the times by offering not only the print and online version of the area’s weekly news, but now a live news component as well.
Every week myself and Ferris resident Tommy Scott bring you the Ellis County news live from the studio in downtown Ferris.
What began in January as a fledgling production is now all live all the time.
You can view the latest ECP-TV spots not only on YouTube, but as well on the newspaper’s Facebook page and at www.elliscountypress.com.
Already at almost 1,500 views collectively from just the two shows posted in the last few days, this number is expected to rise.
More Ellis County residents and those in the surrounding counties are also expected to discover and count on ECP-TV to give them the local news as it is happening as the weeks progress.
“Both myself and Scott report live from the studio every weekend, however” according to Ellis County Publisher and show producer Charles Hatfield, “In the coming weeks both Scott and Cook will be taking the news gathering to the streets with cameras and a search for what is happening now.”
With a collective knowledge of not only what is happening in the county, both Scott and Hatfield have been staples in the community for years.
“This is just one more way to give back to the community,” Hatfield said.
Scott is also running for the Alderman 3 seat in Ferris’ May election against several opponents.
With his victory will come a chance for the Ferris city council to collectively begin the process of transparency in that city government.
Hatfield has worked not only in the world of radio and newspaper publishing, writing and editing for many years, but he said he believes this new television element is the next step for The Ellis County Press’ overall success.
Coming from 10 years in Los Angeles working in the film and television industry and traveling the world for the last 25 in search of the “story,” I also bring with me a knowledge of behind and in front of camera production.
Hatfield said, “I was very impressed with Cook’s experience and her enthusiasm in this new endeavor as she brings years of real-life experience to the table.”
Ferris resident Len Baxley has also agreed to be part of the show’s team as a regular guest. His appearance will show Ellis County residents a look behind the scenes at what he is uncovering in a “man on the street” type of scenario in real time.
“With the lively banter between myself and Rita I think we hit all the right marks for success,” Scott concluded.
“Add Len to the mix and we have an unstoppable team.”
