RED OAK – A woman was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 6 in the killing of an acquaintance days earlier in the Red Oak area of Ellis County, according to the county sheriff’s office.Deputies responded about 10 a.m.

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department recently wrapped up Operation Fall Recovery.The three-day operation in mid-November was conducted as a combined effort operation focusing on recovering stolen property/vehicles within Ellis County.

It is believed the Ol’ Queen Theatre opened around 1900 and called what one report said, “The Queen Theatre offering Vaudeville among other entertainment of the day.”

WAXAHACHIE – Virgil Bryant III, 47, of Red Oak, was convicted by a jury of driving while intoxicated third or more and was sentenced to 99 years in prison, according Ann Montgomery, Ellis County and District Attorney.

WAXAHACHIE – Chad Gillen, 37, of Waxahachie, Texas, was convicted of murder by a jury and sentenced to 70 years in prison, according to Ann Montgomery, Ellis County and District Attorney.In 2010, Karen Gillen suffered a stroke, which left her disabled.
