RED OAK – In December 2023, Arabella of Red Oak launched a valuable partnership with The Grand Baby Project, a charity that provides life-like therapy dolls to seniors with dementia.
The dolls offer comfort, companionship, and purpose to individuals facing the challenges of dementia, enhancing their overall quality of life.
Studies have shown the impact of doll therapy to be effective in reducing agitation and aggressiveness compared to standard therapy.
“Our team completed doll therapy training with the Grand Baby Project and received their certificates from the Dementia Society of America.
“We have been so excited to offer this impactful program to our residents,” shares Memory Care Coordinator, Erinn Mugford.
“We’ve seen the residents respond so positively to their babies. It gives them a sense of purpose, a routine, and something to care for,” she said.
The Grand Baby Project recently sent new outfits over for the babies. Coordinating bows and onesies with cheerful patterns were delivered to the community.
“We were thrilled to see the delivery of baby clothes. Our residents love caring for their babies and dressing them up in new outfits.
“It’s really touching to see,” adds Erinn.
