WAXAHACHIE – Two parents who allege their daughters were unfairly disciplined while students in Waxahachie schools filed a federal lawsuit last Thursday accusing district leaders of carrying out harsher punishments for Black and Latino students than their white peers.

Midlothian traffic victim identified

MIDLOTHIAN – Midlothian resident Aaron Kralovetz, 48, died in an auto/pedestrian accident Thursday, July 25 in the 1400 block of southbound East State Highway 287.Traffic was snarled for several hours as the southbound side of State HWY 287 was closed, as well as the Midlothian Parkway bridge.

Ellis County Commissioners give first ever ‘Heroic Citizen Award’

WAXAHACHIE – The Ellis County Commissioner’s Court gave out its first ever “Heroic Citizen Award” to Jaden Segura, 16.The award recognized Segura’s heroic actions on May 5, when he saved the life of a motorcyclist at the intersection of FM 813 and Gibson Road in Waxahachie.

Schedule change for Disaster Recovery Centers in Texas

AUSTIN – All Disaster Recovery Centers operating in Texas will operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be closed on Sundays, effective July 29.The centers help Texans with recovery from two disasters, Hurricane Beryl and the April 26-June 5 storms and flooding.
