9-year-old double homicide case in Ferris moving forward

FERRIS – The Ferris Police Department may soon be able to report only two cold cases instead of three in that city. A double homicide committed in January, 2010 will likely be referred by police to the Ellis County and District Attorney’s Office, along with a request for a Grand Jury Referral.

ELLIS COUNTY – A major traffic switch is scheduled to begin next week on FM 664 from Interstate 35E to Westmoreland between the cities of Red Oak and Ovilla. The traffic switch is expected to take approximately seven days to complete, beginning Monday, Dec. 10 through Dec. 17.

Deadly crash shuts down I-20

HUTCHINS – A portion of lnterstate 20 was shut down in Hutchins for several hours Friday morning after a crash killed a driver and damaged an over-head sign. The crash happened before 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 near State Highway 310, police said.

FERRIS – The developers and Ferris City officials gathered on Ovilla Road last week to officially break ground on Shaw Creek Ranch II. The crowd stood in the wind beside an empty plot of land while the developer broke ground, ready to begin the second phase of Ferris’ master planned development.
