GARRETT – Timothy Brown, 58, of Ennis was arrested Saturday as a suspect in the shooting death of Donald Claxton of Ennis.

    Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting behind the Spec’s Liquor Store in Garrett Friday at 10:43 p.m.

    Witnesses reported a white male was shot lying in a driveway of a mobile home in the 4000 block of Spur 469 in Garrett.

    Claxton was taken by AMR (Medics) to Ennis Regional Hospital in Ennis where he was pronounced deceased by Justice of Peace Judge Chris Macon with Precinct 1 in Ellis County.

    Ellis County Criminal Investigations along with Ellis County Crime Scene responded to the location for processing.

    Brown was transported to the Ellis County jail where he has been charged with murder. Bond was set at $100,000.

    No law enforcement officers were injured in Brown’s apprehension.
