Brooks Family Cemetery receives THC Historical Marker at Fall dedication Nov. 20

 ENNIS – The Texas Historical Commission has recognized the Brooks Family Cemetery in Ellis County as a significant part of Texas history by awarding it an Official Historic Texas Cemetery Marker.The designation honors the cemetery as an important and educational part of local history.

 ALMAAlma’s Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Fill the Boot for Toys for Tots drive with every dollar donated going directly to help children in Ellis County have a brighter holiday season. The event will be Saturday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon at I-45 & FM 1183 in Alma.

Fatal traffic crash kills Wilmer man

 WILMER – A 26-year-old Wilmer man died in a fatal traffic crash this past weekend.The incident occurred Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of North IH-35E.The accident resulted in the closure of the IH-35E southbound lanes for several hours.
