GLENN HEIGHTS – Glenn Heights set out to organize a day dedicated to the celebration, enjoyment, and recognition of service members, as well as reaffirming the commitment to the American flag and the nation.

In their annual Veterans Day 5K+ Fun Run, they saw the largest turnout cross the finish line, all awarded achievement medals including two-adorable dogs by Mayor Sonja A. Brown, as they honored the brave men and women who have served our country.

Every step helped support local veteran programs.

Following the run, members of the color guard marched in, and the brevity of Veterans Day hit hard as Mayor Brown and the American Legion’s S. Gus Alexander Post 111 honored the American flag by performing the flag retirement and disposal ceremony.

Mayor Brown thanked every participant and spectator, and has hopes for next year to have a better turnout so they may assist the veterans of the City of Glenn Heights.
