OVILLA – With its annual parade and celebration of floats, the City of Ovilla saw its 56th successful Heritage Day event this past weekend. The theme this year was, “Ovilla Salutes Military Service.” Ovilla Mayor Pro Tem David Griffin said it was a record turnout.
Ferris ISD School Board President Robert Scott, participated in the “rope” cutting celebration to mark the opening of the new MC Hammack Project Center. Members of the Ferris ISD School Board and Ferris FFA members participated in the event.

Most cities in the Best Southwest bypass holding the annual National Night Out event in August due to the hot weather. So, as October rolls around residents know it is almost time to celebrate the event with hot dogs and festivities and a meet and greet from local law enforcement officers.

Ferris graduate (1963) Gary Franklin, a former Ferris High School standout athlete, helped lead his local senior softball (70+) team to a World Championship last week in Dalton, Georgia. Franklin excelled in football and track & field for the Yellowjackets.
