Waxahachie youth pastor pleads guilty to sexually assaulting 4 minors

WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery announced that Marvin Scales, 53, of Waxahachie, Texas, pled guilty to two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one count of sexual assault of a child.

Ellis County K9 “Tex” leads narcotics arrest

ELLIS COUNTY –  Ellis County Sheriff’s deputies made a narcotics arrest last week with the helped of its well-trained K9 “Tex” and his deputy partner.

Red Oak Police investigating early-morning shooting

RED OAK – Red Oak Police officers were dispatched to a vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 600 block of Cherry Hills Road on Sept. 29 at 4:26 a.m. The reporting person called 9-1-1 and advised a subject had shot her and that the subject had fled the scene.

3rd Annual RFR Car Show Oct. 5

FERRIS – Everyone loves a car show, and this weekend the Robert F. Rodriguez Leadership Foundation will be hosting its 3rd annual scholarship benefit with a free car show at Mutz Memorial Park.  The benefit is from noon to 6 p.m.

Ennis changes downtown development, tourism director placed on leave

ENNIS – Amid the number of changes in Ennis over the last month with the departure of the City Manager and one of its City Council members, the Downtown Development and Tourism Director, Becky McCarty, was also placed on paid administrative leave for undisclosed reasons earlier this month.

Italy beats Valley Mills 47-20, starts district at 1-0

ITALY – Back-to-back onside-kick recoveries to start the game allowed the Italy Gladiators to jump out to an early 13-0 advantage over the visiting Eagles from Valley Mills.Junior kicker Elijah Stewart kicked off both times, with Kaelynn Cockran recovering both kicks for the Gladiators.

DeSoto 39, Waxahachie 24 

WAXAHACHIE – DeSoto senior running back Deondrae Riden Jr. rushed for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns, leading DeSoto to a 39-24 victory over Waxahachie in a District 11-6A matchup a pair of the area’s top 10 teams Friday night at Lumpkins Stadium.

Lancaster 41, Cedar Hill 35

LANCASTER – Izayah Lee scampered 19 yards on a game-ending touchdown in overtime as Lancaster prevailed 41-35 over Cedar Hill at Tiger Stadium on Friday.Lee was the star for Lancaster (2-3, 2-0 in District 11-6A), finishing with 159 rushing yards on 17 carries and scoring three touchdowns.
