Matthew Louque of Waxahachie was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Louque was initiated at Louisiana Tech University.

60 Life School students compete in 4th annual event

RED OAK – Life School, a leading North Texas public charter school serving over 5,600 students, held its fourth annual Elementary Science Fair at its Red Oak campus on Feb. 8.
Cub Scouts Pack 206 and Boy Scouts Troop 206 of Ferris collected 462 items for the North Ellis County Outreach in Ferris as part of the National Scouting for Food campaign which is done every February across the nation. Thank you to all those who donated to this worthy cause.

GH Mayoral Runoff Feb. 23

GLENN HEIGHTS – Voters will take to the polls in Glenn Heights Feb. 23 for the runoff mayoral race after a special election late last month left former city councilmember Harry Garrett and newcomer Sheena Morgan vying for the coveted seat. With five candidates originally, Garrett came away with 46.

7-YEAR-OLD MAULED BY PIT BULL

FERRIS – A stray pit bull attacked a seven-year-old playing in his front yard Sunday in the 600 block of Pecan Street, according to police reports. Witnesses said three dogs were roaming Pecan Street when the attack occurred.

Rescued Pit Bulls showcased at Ferris graduation ceremony

FERRIS – Spectators gathered in the Ferris Independent School District board meeting room to see the latest graduates of the Animal Farm Foundation’s police dog program Friday.

Water outage stuns residents

FERRIS – Residents on the east side of Interstate 45 woke up without water last Wednesday. Seems the city was fixing water leaks, but failed to tell anyone their water would be shut-off.
