HUTCHINS – The Hutchins Police Department was recently recognized for the third time as a Texas Best Practices Law Enforcement Agency. The Department first became a Texas Best Practices Law Enforcement agency in 2011.

Bardwell Police Chief killed in head-on collision

BARDWELL – A head-on crash Sunday morning in Ellis County left five people dead, including the Bardwell Police Chief Michael Spurgeon Sr., and his volunteer firefighter son, 40 year-old, Michael Spurgeon Jr. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash around 10 a.m.
