WILMER – Wilmer Police were called to the Wilmer Animal Shelter last week in the 2200 block of Pleasant Run Road at 8:40 a.m. on a Criminal Mischief Report Wilmer Police Chief Victor Kemp said may be related to stealing copper.

Ovilla Fall Hazardous Clean-Up Sept. 14

OVILLA – The Ovilla City Council set the date for its Fall Clean-Up event to take place on Sept. 14.
The event will be held in conjunction with CWD who will operate the HHW collection/ recycling event at city hall from 8 a.m. to noon.

Strong winds Sunday afternoon uprooted tress in Ferris, blew trash form totes and overturned news racks. “Looks like it was yanked right out of the ground by the roots!” said David Maki, referring to an uprooted tree in his front yard. Maki lives on South Wood St. in Ferris.

Storms across the area Sunday afternoon spread debris through damaged neighborhoods and left several hundred thousand residents without power.
Winds were strong enough – up to about 70 mph – to topple large trees onto cars and homes.
