Wilmer celebrating Juneteenth Saturday

WILMER – The City of Wilmer will hold its Juneteenth celebration a little late this year on June 30, but “residents can be sure it was worth the wait.”
A free event is to be held at the Wilmer Community Center from 1 to 3:30 p.m. there will be music, food and vendors for all who join.

Ellis County storms knock out electricity

RED OAK – As a series of storms rolled through the Ellis County area over the weekend, some residents in cities like Red Oak awoke Sunday morning to no electricity.
The first storms came through around 4 a.m. and electricity went down for residents in Red Oak until around 11 a.m.
