WILMER – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of former Mayor Hector Casarez. He passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 surrounded by family. He was appointed mayor on Sept. 26, 2011 and served as mayor until May 20, 2014.

RED OAK MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE MURDER COUNTS

RED OAK – Police said the arrest of Jeremy Harris is a major break in a number of violent crimes that police were investigating involving a black Chevy Tahoe with black rims. Harris, 31 from Red Oak, was arrested Thursday night in connection to a murder of a 60-year-old Celina man.
Earlier this month, newly elected Ellis County Constable Curtis Polk Jr., 42, spoke out about being moved to a shared work space that was near a “Negroes” sign leftover from the segregation era.
