Former Wilmer Mayor Hector Casarez passes away

WILMER – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of former Mayor Hector Casarez.

He passed away on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020 surrounded by family.

He was appointed mayor on Sept. 26, 2011 and served as mayor until May 20, 2014. He was the first Hispanic mayor and served the city with unmatched love for his community.

The city asks that everyone keep Hector Casarez’s mother, Maria Adelfa Casarez, family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.
