Waxahachie Council ups homestead exemption

WAXAHACHIE – The Waxahachie City Council said yes in a 4-0 vote at a recent special city council meeting to raise the city’s general homestead exemption.The increase in the exemption will now be at 3.5% effective as of January, with a minimum exemption of $5,000.

ELLIS COUNTY – While the weather has been extremely hot so far this summer, the rumor that Ellis County is under a burn ban is false.Residents have been confused about the county currently being under a burn ban due to old signs not removed from the previous burn ban in 2023.

Glenn Heights – On July 2, Glenn Heights Police Department responded to the report of a body found in a pond in the 1600 block of Waters Edge Drive. The deceased was a local resident reported missing by family members the day prior.
