Canton steamrolls Life Waxahachie, 51-0

WAXAHACHIE – The Canton Eagles claimed a resounding 51-0 win over the Life Waxahachie Mustangs on the road Friday night.The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third quarter, with the Eagles up by 39 points.

Italy beats Chilton for first win, 21-6

ITALY – After a back-and-forth struggle early, Italy took control of the game in the second-quarter after a 46 yard keeper by senior quarterback Gared Wood gave the Gladiators a 1st-and-goal opportunity at Chilton’s 1 yard line.

Red Oak falls to Colleyville Heritage 32-29

GRAPEVINE – The Red Oak Hawk’s first game of the 2024 season was a road trip to Grapevine for a non-district contest.The Hawks came into the 2024 with high expectations after last season’s remarkable playoff run.However, Colleyville Heritage is also a very good 5A program.

Cedar Hill overpowers Midlothian 40 – 7

MIDLOTHIAN – Dayshun Reese-Williams had 171 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead Cedar Hill over Midlothian 40-7 at Midlothian ISD Stadium.Reese-Williams scored on a 48-yard run to put Cedar Hill (1-0) on the scoreboard. Tamarion Crochett had 143 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Elected Ellis County officials getting pay increase

WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County Commissioners voted unanimously to set the mandatory payment rate for the new fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.Ellis County Judge Todd Little said all rates were implemented into the proposed budget and include all elected officials.
