GLENN HEIGHTS – Voters will take to the polls in Glenn Heights Feb. 23 for the runoff mayoral race after a special election late last month left former city councilmember Harry Garrett and newcomer Sheena Morgan vying for the coveted seat.
With five candidates originally, Garrett came away with 46.

7-YEAR-OLD MAULED BY PIT BULL

FERRIS – A stray pit bull attacked a seven-year-old playing in his front yard Sunday in the 600 block of Pecan Street, according to police reports.
Witnesses said three dogs were roaming Pecan Street when the attack occurred.

Eugene Jistel, Jr. passed away to his heavenly home on Feb. 12, 2019, with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 6, 1962, to Eugene and Annie Mae Jistel Sr. in Dallas, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Jistel Sr.; His brother, James Jistel.
Jr. was a very kind and loving.

Happy George Washington’s birthday

As this column is being written, Monday, Feb. 18 is President’s Day.
Actually, there is no “President’s Day” holiday. According to the official list of federal holidays it is recognized as “George Washington’s Birthday.” Somehow Abraham Lincoln got tossed into the mix since his birthday is Feb. 12.
