FERRIS PUBLIC LIBRARY: More than books (July 11, 2019)

The Ferris Public Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Club will conclude with a children’s party at Mutz Park on Wednesday, July 17, starting at 11 a.m. Jones Jumpers will be supplying a bounce house and water slides. We will announce the Reading Winners, who need to be present to receive prizes.

LOCAL STUDENT UPDATE: July 11, 2019

Springfield College has named Navreet Pointer of Waxahachie to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2019 term. Pointer is studying Human Services. Criteria for selection to the dean’s list requires that the student must have a minimum semester grade point average of 3.

FIERY CRASH ON I-45

FERRIS – On Sunday, July 7, around 12:43 p.m., Ferris police and fire personnel responded to a fiery three-car crash on Interstate Highway 45, (mile marker 267) in the northbound lanes, adjacent to the Taco Bell and Commercial State Bank.

WAXAHACHIE – State Representative John Wray announced he will retire from the Texas House at the end of his current term as the Representative for House District 10. District 10 includes all of Ellis County and part of Henderson County.

Ovilla city council considers building new city facilities

OVILLA – The Ovilla city council is looking at municipal facility improvements. While the idea is in the beginning stages of development at last night’s council meeting a map was presented by staff to identify potential locations.
