CFI donates to Wilmer’s Initiative to Spread Hope

WILMER – The City of Wilmer’s Initiative to Spread Hope got an early Christmas gift from employees of truckload carrier CFI – to the tune of $2,600. The local program was one of 19 charities around the nation supported by CFI in its annual Truckloads of Treasures holiday giving campaign.

Businesses support foster families for the holidays

RED OAK – Red Oak area businesses partnered with Red Oak Independent School District’s Community and Family Services to bring extra joy to dozens of district students currently in foster care, and the families providing that care. The first-ever Holiday Festival held Dec.

Spelling Bee winners prep for county Bee

RED OAK – Congratulations to the Red Oak ISD campus Spelling Bee champions. The week of Dec. 16, ROISD students in grades 4-8 participated in the Scripps Spelling Bee at their campus. First place winners from each campus will move on to the Ellis County Spelling Bee on Feb. 6 in Waxahachie.

Make a mental decision that Christmas is going to be great. Our world exists in the space between our ears known as our brains. We can dread or hate something or just decide it’s going to be wonderful. Faking it is not always easy.

Good week to all: Welcome to the “front porch.” The Gospel of Luke – with little doubt – is the loveliest book ever written. During these chilly, festive days of December I think we appreciate Luke’s gospel and the physician’s brilliant storytelling ability more than ever.

Roben S. Hanes was born May 20, 1942 near Keyes, OK to Huston S. and Doris Opal (Kincannon) Hanes and joined his Savior on Dec. 20, 2019 in Dallas, TX after a lifetime of service to his fellow man and The Church of Christ. Roben lived a life of service in every aspect.

OUT TO PASTOR: Is this a Christmas present or what?

One great blessing of Christmas is presents. Of course, at my age, I am not too interested in what I am getting but rather what I am giving. I cannot think of one thing I really would want. I got everything I need even though some of it may be old and outdated.
