Truck accident closes Waxahachie highway

 WAXAHACHIE – A livestock truck accident shut down US Hwy 77 in Waxahachie late last week.The accident occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 when a semi-truck carrying a cattle trailer had a blowout, according to the driver.

Sheriff’s Department looking for missing juvenile male

 ELLIS COUNTY – As of Sunday, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department had not reported finding missing 14-year-old Dakota Johnson.Johnson is a black male, 5'9" and 130 pounds.His last known location was in the 100 block of Wilson Road near his home in Waxahachie.

EYES ON ELLIS COUNTY (September 25, 2025)

 ALMAAlma seems to have an active animal population. Recently a resident posted, “Whoever has young black cows on Lake Tom Sawyer they are out running thru neighbor’s yards. This has been going on for over a week.” Apparently, there were about 10 one-year-old cows visiting neighborhoods unattended.

 We sat in silence for a minute. Mama was fighting fading off into a coma again, I could tell. She closed her eyes, almost involuntarily, and I could look no longer into their depth. It was as if a wind had taken a cloud and eclipsed my view of the sun.

 One of the most valuable gifts in life is the ability to see.I cannot imagine a day I could not see.I was having some trouble with my eyes about four years ago, and I had to go to my eye doctor and have cataracts removed from both my eyes.
