Ellis County Sheriff seeking help with 2-year-old murder investigation

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said last week they were asking for the public’s help in a two-year-old death investigation of Jackie Wayne Shelby, aged 54 at the time of his death.Shelby’s death took place in Italy, Texas, in February 2023.

Wilmer passes 2025/2026 FY budget and tax rate

WILMER – The City of Wilmer successfully adopted its 2025/2026 fiscal year budget and tax rate at a special called meeting Thursday night.It was a unanimous vote to pass the budget, which will raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s fiscal year budget by the amount of $4,044,907.

WAXAHACHIE – These days, you have to even pay a fee to pay your utility bill in Waxahachie.Beginning Nov, 1, there will be a 3.95% processing fee applied to all credit and debit card payments, including those on AutoPay for utility bill payments.

When I got to the house, I parked in my usual spot between our house and Goodnight Irene’s. Grandma’s orange and white ‘56 Ford was on the hill by the vacant lot. She and Preacher Harvey or Aunt Gracie always parked when they were over.
